i randomly bumped into an orchestral version of it and was like this is cool maybe i'll play it, it's on the Lmus list i think. anyone had any experiences with it?

I've played it through but never used it in a concert. I think grainger's solo piano versions are well written, but they just sound to "poor", when compared to the two-piano-versions by himself, of shepherd's hey, molly on the shore, handel in the strand and more. I just love the two piano versions, they're even better than the orchestral ones in my opinion.

Can't help on Shepherd's Hey, but on the topic of Grainger's piano music, give a listen to his Concert Rag: Cakewalk Smasher (also titled In Dahomey). You can catch a snippet of it on Amazon Here's the link below.
 
Its a bit tricky but fun to play & listen to.
