MIDIs of Medtner and Scriabin
on: June 23, 2006, 01:06:03 AM
Where can I find MIDIs of these two composers? Specifically...

Scriabin Polonaise in Bb Minor Op.21
Scriabin Impromptus and Nocturnes

Medtner Sonata Romantica
Medtner 'Night Wind' Sonata
Medtner Sonata Idylle

I have already tried:

Classical Music Archives
Classical Midi Connection (which, for some reason, doesn't work for me)
Kunst Der Fuge

Well, the answer to that can be shown in the last half hour I've waited to download the recording of Medtner's 20-1 you posted in one of my other threads, followed by the extra hour and a half needed to download the software to play said recording.

Besides that, I can put MIDIs on my digital piano and watch the music. It's fun- if it's a good MIDI.

hmm, your connection must be pretty slow. from whgat i can remember, the file was only about 35 MB or so, which isnt too big i dont think. and also, i dont see why you would need special software to play an mp3, for your computer should already have windows media player or whatever in it, but i guess all computers are different. anyways, if you find any midis, be sure to let me know. i would love to play them through sibelius.

Yes, of course I am! Especially Night Wind and Sonata Romantica.

Can you post them as mp3s though? The last one I downloaded was a .rar file (whatever that is- i'm not very computer literate) and I lack the technology to play it. mp3s I think I can handle. That other file was just 2 hours pissed away for me, unfortunately.

actually, a .rar file is an archive that held the mp3s that i had posted. you can "unzip" it with a variety of programs such as winRAR, winZip (i think), and some other program called 7-zip, which you can download here: https://www.7-zip.org/ . its very easy to do and requires little computer literacy. archiving files is a very good way to hold files together, especially when doing file transfers. i hope you saved the other file i uploaded, for that 7-zip program will solve your problem. trust me on that. anyways, ill upload that stuff as soon as i can.

also, here is igor zhukov's recording of the scriabin polonaise.

Medtner Sonata Romantica
Medtner 'Night Wind' Sonata
Medtner Sonata Idylle
here they are. hamelin is the pianist. the sonata romantica is definitely the best of the three. the nighty wind sonata is a close runner up. ive never really been close to sonata-idylle, but it is still a great sonata. use 7-zip to unzip the archive. enjoy!

I know this is a big request, but would it be possible for you to upload the other sonatas as well?

Thank you jre!

The Scriabin polonaise is missing like the last 15 seconds or so, but still a great recording.

I'm downloading the Medtner Sonatas, only 4 hours and 12 minutes left to go... ::)
