Ginastera Sonatas
on: June 28, 2006, 07:34:25 PM
One rarely hears about Ginastera Sonatas no.2 and 3. What do you think of them. Are they as good as No.1?  Are they as tough?  Do you think someone who can pull of the Ravel Sonatine have the technique to play them?  Thanks.

nos 2 and 3 are exponentially tougher than no 1. they have much more to them technically, especially no 2. no 3 is a very short sonata, but it deters many a pianist. also, they are much more atonal than no 1, if you know what i mean. and if you can do the ravel sonatine, stick to no 1, for that is the easiest sonata. ginastera's 2nd and 3rd sonatas are definitely an acquired taste also. i personally think that theyre great, but some ignorant people may call them horrible works.
