Your best bet would probably be to have a technician look at it and, if it needs any repair, have him do it.
That's a very good suggestion.
Usually old piano's all need repair. As long as the Cast is not cracked any piano can be fixed.
In Montreal, it usually cost under 150 $ for a regular tune up and small adjustments, but
I have seen piano's that needed up to 750$ Canadian to do the upkeep.
Either way, it's usually a very good investmement.
