History brief
on: December 25, 2003, 09:12:36 AM
Ok just so in the future I never have to say "who is that?" again, I was wondering if some of you would like to share a brief bit of history about a famous or just plainly important pianist (new or old). It'd be interesting finding out whjat people know but please try to keep it brief (not too brief of course).
Thanks,
  ~Lee~

- Harold Schoenberg - The great pianists.

- David Dubal - The world of the concert pianist (interviews with lots of well-known - and a few not so well-known pianists).

- Elyse Mach - Great contemporary pianists speak for themselves (more interviews. Note that contemporary means contemporary to Ms. Mach!)

- James Francis Cooke - Great pianists on piano playing .(more interviews).

- Jeffrey Johnson (ed.) - Piano mastery - The Harriet Brower interviews. (more interviews with a strong bias on technical tips from the masters).

-https://www.geocities.com/Vienna/Strasse/8618/index.html (slightly polemical site reviewing most important pianists that have recordings available)

-List of the Great pianists of the 20th century (Phillips/polygram) provided by Ed on the thread of the same name.

- Type any pianist's name on Google and you will have a deluge of information (some of it dubious - as everything else on the internet).

These should keep you busy and out of trouble for a while! ;)

Best wishes,
Bernhard.

Once again I thank Bernhard for his help. This is a lot to accomplish. I'll try to find some time. Maybe tomorrow. Hehe, anyway. Thanks,
