Is this a wrong way?
on: July 11, 2006, 02:55:57 AM
   Hi, I readed in this forum that we have to learn to play HT a passage in speed at the begin. I master the passage HS, but when I try to play HT in tempo I can't. Then I have to learn to play HT always in slow pace. This way I learn. I tried "dropping notes" but I know that it is used in small passages. What is the way to learn HT in a general way?

We all go through this problem, Franz. It's one of the penalties of trying to do something as complicated as playing the piano. Yes you learn the piece (or a section of it) HS.
And yes, when you do it right you can play each hand very fast—HS.

But when you try HT it is almost as if you learned nothing. Right? Happens to all of us - except the geniuses. So accept it. Go slowly when you start HT. Play it slowly HT until you can play it slowly, but smoothly. You may not be a tempo, but be patient. Learn the next section HS and then HT as you did earlier.

Play it for your teacher and ask him/her to help you get up to get up to speed.

By the way...

Make music even when you're playing HS. Play the Pianos, the Fortes, etc., as written even though you're playing HS. So when you start playing HT, you're making music right from the go.

HT= Hands together

HS= Hands separate
It all happens on Discworld, where greed and ignorance influence human behavior... and perfectly ordinary people occasionally act like raving idiots.

A world, in short, totally unlike our own.
