Several of the variations in Schumann's Symphonic Etudes Op. 13, share a similar inspiration. Also Kreisleriana 2 & 3.

similar?  I would say some Mendelssohn:  the Prelude from the e minor prelude and fugue (op 35 #1 if I remember correctly)  would fit the part IMO.  Many of his songs without words too.

The Schumann concerto has parts very similar also.
