New upright piano of USD$4000 budget

For that budget, what's your opinion of Japanese (Yamaha or Kawai) vs European models? Are Japenese ones really more reliable and durable? I found sound quality is generally better for European ones. Any recommendation on European brand? Petrof, Bohamia....
