This is what a legendary piano-forumer had to say:

Regular piano forums are all about dumb people trying to say smart things.
Da SDC is about smart people saying dumb stuff.

I don't agree 100%, but there is some truth there.   :P

I am sure that the average da SDC member has more knowledge of the the piano-repertoire and the history of pianism itself, than this place. Altough we lack members like Bernhard.

It's an intriguing site for sure, and it's quite entertaining to read some of it.

And there is definately a lot of knowledge there.

But, remember it is quite a specialized forum - first off its a piano forum (so its mostly pianists) and in addition you need to be able to speak the lingo and understand the culture (in addition to being a pianist).  Such a specialized forum weeds out a whole lot of people from joining, and the end result is much more uniform than this forum.

The personalities and range of pianistic abilities are not quite as diverse as on this forum, due to the intense specialization and self-isolation of da SDC... whether or not this is good or bad is up for debate.

That seems like a fair assessment. To be honest, I thought it was a much nicer place before we started posting/sharing heaps of vids and recs, that attracted a few tossers.

true pregnant cat is alright as long as he isn't spamming the joint with gay porn. the leechers yes, but also generally, it was a much less 'hostile' place. Not so say that there haven't been valuable members who joined after.
