Audition
on: July 22, 2006, 12:56:13 PM
I have a very important auditon coming up, and I was just wondering which piece I ought to play:

Brahms, Intermezzo op.118 No 2
Sibelius, Impromtu (not sure which one.. but it's the one with 2 pages that lasts 7 minutes)
Mozart, Fantasie
Schubert, Impromtu

Personally I like the Intermezzo the best, but is this piece difficult enough to score alot of points?

Hmm...I don't know the Sibelius, but I would say that if the Brahms is your favorite, then play it.  It's been played at major competitions in the past, so I wouldn't be concerned about its viability.  If you want to give the best impression of yourself, then you should play what you play best.

Best,
ML

Thanks for answering  ;D Have you played the piece yourself? Could you give me some tips, what to be aware of? I know about the pedalling...

If some people haven't heard it, I would say go for the Sibelius.
They might see you as eccentric, which is often times good.
