I've been experienceing a frenzy of composing creativity and want to record my stuff onto my mac powerbook. The problem is my mac does not have GarageBand software, so I can't use iMic as a audio-digital convertery. My Mac Powerbook has a G3 processor running OS X 10.1.5. So my questions are, is there a converter out there that will work with my OS, and is there shareware that could take the place of GarageBand. I really don't nead anything fancy for editing etc, I just want to end up with 2 track (stereo) recordings in MP3 format. Thanks in advance... Larry Larson

Audacity:
https://audacity.sourceforge.net/

There may be some problems running on Mac platform so be sure to read the Wiki and Forums.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

OK, I downloaded audacity, but when I click on it, excel opens it and the file contains a bunch of unintelligable symbols.  What is "wiki" and which forums are you referring to?  thanks.... Larry

I haven't done an Audacity install on Mac yet.   First make sure you select the correct install (there are several including the source code).  The one you would probably need is the latest stable release OS X install:

https://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/mac

while you're at it get the lame mp3 encoder too.
