Famous pianists media (pics, vids)
on: December 30, 2003, 05:59:51 AM
I'm starting a new thread that's solely for the purpose of displaying pictures or links to videos of famous virtuosos. This will help everyone and entertain everyone with piano. Please! Everyone! Add your picture or even better, your collection here for all to enjoy! Here's a few to start:

Rachmaninoff at a Concert

A painting of Horowitz in his last years

Kissin at a concert, not a great picture but it's a picture :)

Cliburn

Arrau (autographed too  ;)

Argerich (can you believe she said she didn't want to be a pianist)

Cziffra Improvisations, Simply Phenomenal, even by watching the video 30 times, I can not figure out how he plays this fast, it defies physics.

A friendly reminder - please remove your picture or thread if the pic doesn't show up (since the pictures from websites often aren't available anymore). Also, for those that want to post pictures but don't know how, the post a picture button is right above the "smiley" faces in the "post reply" section, and is 4th from the left. Simply press the button, then insert the URL (www.website.com/yourpicture.jpg) between the "img" tags.

Wow, that recordings of cziffra are great! That's cziffra by himself, or who played this?

And are there often of these programs where pianists play?

The one and only Cziffra, and his own improvisations, I don't think they were even ever written down on paper.

Are the videos available to download?  I'd love to see him play these improvisations.
