They hardly air it in England lol, not on TV anyway, they have to make way for the important programmes like Eastenders lol

Sad but true.

My mother would be straight on the phone to the BBC if the Proms was aired instead of Eastenders.

That's a bit unfair; it is indeed true that televising of Prom concerts is even more of a rarity now than it used to be and it may also be argued with good reason that most of those who spend far more time watching television than listening to radio may indeed prefer to visit Albert Square to attending the Albert Hall, but it should be noted that every one of the concerts in the series is broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and then repeated in full on the same channel within a few days of the performance. Nothing can substitute for actually being present, however...

She might be able to save herself the cost of such a phone call were BBC to televise Eastenders AND a Prom concert on the same evening - which would not be an entirely impossible thing to do...

The Royal Albert Hall holds well in excess of 5,000 and several of this year's Prom concerts - including the one I'm still hoping to attend next Wednesday - have been over-subscribed - some of them substantially so - which is a long and roundabout way of saying yes, you bet they are!

I'm not going to any proms, but I am going to several shows at the Edinburgh Festival. The atmosphere during the festival is brilliant. Can't wait!

I heard she's taking some time-off due to pneumonia.

I think you can listen here if you don't get BBC radio (those of you not in the UK):
https://www.bbc.co.uk/proms/listen/

And you can hear the concerts for seven days after they are first broadcast.
