Piano Street Magazine:
Toward the Flame: Boris Petrushansky’s Journey Through Scriabin’s Universe

Alexander Scriabin died in April 1915, at forty-three, of a fever that took him within a week — leaving his great mystical project unfinished. He left behind a piano language no one had spoken before, one that a century later still questions every interpreter who approaches it. Boris Petrushansky has spent a lifetime preparing his answer. In a new album and an extended conversation with Piano Street, he traces Scriabin’s path from the early Preludes to the final, shattering Op. 74. Read more

I play the flute, just not so much anymore because it got to the point where i was at diploma level on both instruments, and I chose to do them with piano. But i still play occasionally and teach.

I too love the electric guitar, but B B King is my style.

I was on guitar before finding my way to piano.  Played with a band for a few year, was a lot of fun... But flakiness of musicians drove me to learn music that sounds good solo, and I got into classical guitar for a long while before the music grew on me enough that I had to learn the originals.

We played a lot of Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Hendrix and that sort of thing.  Loved to improvise and kept very loose arrangements.  I might have been a little overbearing at the time.

I've since sold off most of my gear.  I hear one bandmate is doing well for himself, and that the others may have slipped too far into the party lifestyle.  I hope they're OK.
