Hi all,
I have just finished writing a history essay entitled "With reference to the careers and works of Sergei Prokofiev and Dmitri Shostakovich evaluate how far musical life in the Soviet era was reduced to the service of the needs of the state". I would be very grateful to receive your criticisms or comments about it. If you would like to read it, please IM me (I thought it would be too pretentious just to post it as it is rather long!),

This sounds like a very interesting subject.  A while back I read a book on how the Nazis and others in Germany used Beethoven politically (Beethoven in German Politics, 1870-1989 by Dennis B. Davis).
