Medtner Festival?
on: August 06, 2006, 11:21:27 PM
Has anyone heard anything about a Medtner Festival in Moscow, with some affiliation of Boris Berezovsky. I have heard differing things, that it only happened once in 1995, or that it is still on. Any information would be much appreciated.

i don't know. but geoffrey tozer and marc-andre hamelin have created some boxed sets of medtner's music. i wonder if they might know more about any medtner festival. this sounds like a sort of prestigious inner-circle thing. you know, like the thalberg competition.
someone on line was raving about medtners 'reminiscenza' or something. some kind of melody that repeats over and over. might have heard it on the radio on wrti one time. medtner really should be 'brought out' to the light. as far as medtner playing medtner - i know nothing of this. but gilels gave a carnegie hall concert with that reminsenza piece.

if that festival only happened once in 1995 - it's too late. you'll have to create a festival of your own here. basically, all you do is create the idea - the illusion - that something fantastic is going to happen. post it all over the internet. and then see who shows up.
