I don't think there is a "best" but everyone has their own favorites.

I like Bruyeres, General Levine, and Feux d'artifice, and some other names I forgot.

If you want an easy one, try Le Fille Aux Cheveaux de Lin, the most popular and the easiest imo.  If you want something harder, try Bruyeres, which sounds idyllic and peaceful.

good luck

If you have a good level, try "... Les Colinnes d'Annacapri"

Feux d'Artifice and Ce qu'a vu le vent d'ouest are both incredible...but are also two of the most difficult  :-\

I also really like General Lavine, Cathédrale Engloutie, Bruyères and Sérénade Interrompu.  Although I really enjoy the preludes, I think that a few of them are awful.

Collines d'anacapri (especially when followed by pas dans la neige), cathédrale engloutie, bruyères, brouillards and feux d'artifice are my favourites -- even though the latter two are closer to Bartok than Impressionism.

Really? I like them so much all together, that I really can't say, which ones are the best. I can't think even of one, which I don't like.

Is it unkind to ask, which ones you don't like?

Those three are some of my favorites..... Voiles is the one I can probably play the best out of all of the preludes.

May I kindly ask for a post in audition room?

Sry if some of my least favorites are some of your favorites  8) , I'm not saying it's badly written, I just can't stand them  :P .  Same thing goes with any other piece, some hate them while some love them.  I appreciate all of the preludes, I just dont like those three  ;D

Why do I keep bringing these favorites threads back?

Anyways, mines are Les collines d'Anacapri, followed by Voiles and Brouillards.
last 3 schubert sonatas and piano trios are something else

I have wondered that sometimes too! Not that I'm complaining, keep it up lol.

My favorites are definitely La Cathedrale Engloutie, Danseuses de Delphes, La Fille aux Cheveux de Lin and Voiles!

It's hard to pick... I've played Bk 1/7 and Bk 2/7 the most as they make a nice contrasting pair. Compositionally speaking I find Bk 2/11 and 12 the most interesting as Debussy starts moving into the later style which we find in the Etudes.
