on: August 19, 2006, 02:17:05 PM
Is anyone familiar with the following:
Chaminade -Album des enfants op.123
Chaminade -album des enfants 2e-serie op.126
Bloch -enfantines pieces for children
Khachaturian -Album for Children
Gade -op36 Children's Christmas Eve
Gliere -zwoelf kinderstuecke op.31
Gretchaninov -op.98 Children's Book
Krug -op.340 The Children's Favorite
Kullak -op.62 Kinderleben 12 Pieces
Kullak -op.81 11 Stücke
Reger -op.44 10 kleine Vortragsstücke
Scharwenka -opus 62 album fur die jugend
I don't know much about them (actually nothing) that is why I'm hoping someone can reply with some suggestions.
Also do you know of any recordings of the above?
Hope someone can help!

I'm just familiar with the Khachaturian 's Album for children book, I like the pieces very much, they are very descriptive of the title they carry .
Such as " two ladies gossiping" , the staccato and the repeated fast passage make it sound like 2 ladies gossiping and talking their heads off.
Well that was just my opinion.

Thanks for replying!
Apart from "two ladies gossiping" what other pieces in the collection appeal to you or if you're a teacher, to your students?
Do you know of any recordings of it?
Anyone for the other albums?

cecile chaminade is one of my favorite women composers of her time. but, i don't know much about her children's music. or, the other composers children's music for that matter. suppose i should by now.
but, i did look up bloch - out of curiousity. and, i found bolerium books is selling a unique item. it is selling 'enfantines' - the original 1924 copyrighted version with 'original drawings by lucienne bloch.' would be interesting to see! it's only $15.00.
