Bach - Invention 13
on: August 19, 2006, 04:47:11 PM
Dear all,

I am now learning Bach's invention 13, but my left hand seems to suffer from what I believe is a wrong fingering. Take for example the first bar, left hand. The motif starts (E-A-C-B-E-B-D-C), echoing that of the right hand. Now, what fingering should I choose for this part in the left hand? So far, I have been using 5-2-1-2, and 5-2-1-2 again, which makes it awkward. Is there a better way to do it?

 Thank you!

well, I was using the same fingering as you: 5 2 1 2 5 2 1 2

I have a Bussoni edition which suggests: 5 3 1 2 5 2 1 2

the first fingering was doing better for me

 Dear Chadefa:
 Actually, I use this fingering: 5 3 1 2, 5 3 1 2.
Anyway, it's all up to the size of your hands.
 Best wishes!
