I'm getting a piano, but... :/
on: August 27, 2006, 01:25:55 AM
... I don't know which one. Could anyone who knows their pianos give me some advice on which piano to get?

(All give-aways!  8) )

Pictures in the links!

Malmsjö: https://www.blocket.se/vi/8965849.htm?ca=23_10_s

Östlind & Almquist:  https://www.blocket.se/vi/8967445.htm?ca=23_10_s

"Russian piano" (no idea what brand it is): https://www.blocket.se/vi/8968075.htm?ca=23_10_s

Piano Hindsberg: https://www.blocket.se/vi/8988553.htm?ca=23_10_s

"Older model" (again, don't know what brand... maybe you do?): https://www.blocket.se/vi/9039392.htm?ca=23_10_s

I don't have a clue myself, so any "professional" input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I don't know any of those names, but just judging by the photos I'd take the Piano Hindsberg.   It appears to be the best built of the bunch judging by the cabinet.  All the others seem to be lighter-weight models with shorter string lengths.

You can't really judge a used piano for it's  suitability by just looking at a picture or by the manufacturer.

You should go play them if you can and even better pay a piano technician a few dollars ( or Euros or Gilders ) to go with you to see if there any major defects Inside.

Even free, if you get a bad one you'll have the burden of getting rid of it.

Good luck

I would never buy one of those brands, unless you're a total newbie... and even then, if you like playing piano you will stop your training sessions faster because of a dull sound etc...

they're all made in china, korea or russia and have no real value either.

remember buying a piano is fast... selling it to  upgrade later if it's an xxx brand is very VERY difficult
