911 Suite (4 movements)
on: August 27, 2006, 06:20:15 PM
Here’s a Suite in four movements I composed the day after 911. I suppose it was my way of finding some peace in the midst of such horror.

Best, John

911 Suite (Four Movements)
1. Dawn’s Early Light (the morning after)
2. Reality Strikes
3. Such Deep Sadness
4. Move to the Light

I thought it would be appropriate to bump this piano suite up today.

R.I.P. 911 victims.

I love it! I am not sure how to put it, but the whole suite feels like a journey to some eventual better future here on earth.

Fantastic.

my first impression was 'wow, this is really beautiful.'  then i think 'why am i crying to a child's xylophone clanging in the background.'  but, then that made me think of the day care center.  it is still very effective.  you are a GREAT composer!  i like the twists and turns.

Thanks Pianistimo. It was a tough decision deciding whether I should keep the toy twinkling in this suite. It stood for the innocent victims that haven't even had a chance to get their life off the ground.

Best, John ;)

yes. that makes sense of a completely senseless day.  it brings comfort, i think, to family and people affected to know that someone would take the time to create music about the event.  too bad you couldn't get it published and played on tv to go along with footage.  it is very thought provoking and well done.

I never considered publishing this. It was just my way of dealing with the horror. I wouldn't ever want to make any money off this work. It's free for the asking.

We're about a two hour drive from NYC. There were local people that commute to NYC that lost their lives. So on top of the horror, it hit very close to home.

Just thought I'd bump this up one last time before I extract it from my ftp space (I need room for new material). Thanks for the nice comments. I'll leave it up untill Friday.

Best, John :)
