What exactly is the little prism icon thingy?
on: September 02, 2006, 06:56:06 PM
When you have no new replies in a large board but you DO have new replies in said board's child sub-board, a different icon appears. What exactly is the object on the icon?

At first, I thought it was the prism from 'Dark Side of the Moon' but looking closer it's something different. Nils, what is it?

I thought it was supposed to be a metronome?

Greetings.

Phil, some things aren't for the forumers to be known. I think it is best that we drop the subject.

I think it means that you have either not posted much in that particular board or subboard, if there is one.

That's interesting. I had one aboce one board before posting my last post and now it is gone. This is fairly irreconcilable in my opinion. Is this a conspiracy? Nils, I want the truth.

Ah, I think I am figuring it out. I think that the "thingy" comes up when there is not enough posting in that particular board. Nils, provide the answers. Or is it.................something unbeknown to you as well.

Yes, problem solved. I just posted in a board with that sign and the subboard, and the sign dissapeared.

Debussy, I am aware of what it signifies, but I am asking what the thing on the icon is.

I think it's a scale. It isn't level because you haven't posted in that board.

I think it represents something like 'child board' inside, or something...

Just a guess. :)

It's a simple machine. Look at the logo on the website where the forum software comes from:

So the prism/metronome indicates new posts on the child board?

I see blue dots and brown dots next to the main boards.  Must be replies/no replies on the main board?

I see.... blue for new posts, brown means you clicked on that board.
