Scrambled Smileys!!!!

I was in the chatroom once, when something strange happened.

Example:
(The *s are for concealing members names)

[ihatepop]: So, you like chopin?
[***********]: Of course, who does'nt? Anyone who does not has no touch.
                           I have all of his sheets.
[*******]: I prefer Liszt. 
[*****]: Me too. Oh well, got to go, bye!
[ihatepop]: tata
[*** *******]: 
[*********] has entered at *****.
[*********]: Oh, no not you guys .

And then, we had been chatting for almost 30 mins when the smileys that were posted previously repeated themselves over the words! No one else had this problem.

Example:

[ihatepop]: I love piano forum!It is just  so great for relieving stress.
[*******]: I agree. My favourite site on  the net.                                           
[ihatepop]: Something is  wrong with my smileys
[***********]:  Huh? Nothing wrong here.....

I can veritably relate to your experience, because those smilys do seem to etch their way into words and sometimes even block them out. They see to be increasing in number and frequency. It will not be long before the entire chat room floods with smilys.
