Kabalevsky Prelude No.24

Another recording I made yesterday for the OSM competition.  It's a really great piece, and I'm not too sure why people dont play it more often.  O well.

wow!  it sounds incredibly difficult to play (and, of course, memorize).  i don't think i've heard this piece before.  it's a very interesting piece - and has a lot of potential to bring out all the dynamics and ranges of the piano.  when i listen to the particular piano you are playing on - i feel the bass just very slightly overwhelms the treble in terms of balance.  it's probably not your playing.  how does one compensate for this when talking to a technician?  does 'tighten the bass' mean anything?  the action seemed 'floppier.'  i have no terms to talk to technicians with.

Yeah, I was playing in a hall on a really expensive Steinway that had an amazing bass.... O well, I think it will be good for competition.  Thanks for the feedback!

that was very good. it seems you have "murray mclachlan syndrome", haha. i mean, you play it with plenty of expression. however, i dont know if its you or the recording equipment, but the dynamics need a bit of work. until the quiet parts, it seemed to be one continuous line. bring out that march section. kabalevsky has it marked at ƒƒƒ. its sort of the climax of the piece. otherwise, very good. keep up the good work.
