Ligeti/Reich/Aimard/Aka pygmies - African Rhythms
on: September 29, 2006, 04:21:49 AM
Has anyone here listened to this album? The Ligeti stuff is great but what sticks out the most (to me) is the Aka Pygmy stuff. Especially the track "Yangissa". Polyphonic tribal music is amazing.

this is one of my favorite disks. i love hearing reich and ligeti's music, along with those african rhythms. reich's clapping music really captures the spirit of the african pygmies, i think. go out and listen to this if you havent already.

I think the clapping track sounds better with headphones rather than speakers.

it seems that people here just dont appreciate this type of music. also, ligeti may be a bit over some people's heads.

I have it, and love it. I must admit that at first, i couldn't really take the Pygmy stuff seriously, but with many listenings, i've come to be fascinated by it...
