Mozart's Ah! Vous Dirai-je, Maman (12 Variations)

What a "FUN" song. When I first heard this I immediately thought of "Twinkle Twinkle", but after listening to all 12 variations I couldn't stop thinking of it and had to get the music. I'm in the process of learning it, and while not the hardest piece, if played at proper tempo and rhythm it's not the easiest either, except maybe for the beginning (theme). Just wondering if anyone else loves this as much as I do, and if anyone knows of it ever being used as a performance or competition piece? Thanks

One time me and a friend played it half each at a school recital and it was stacks of fun!

Yeah, it is a pretty twiddly, fiddly tricky piece at times, if I remember.

solomon used it as an encore- a nice humurous one to end on.

but i'd never play all twelve in one go.

Samsom François gives a pretty nice performance of it. It's fresh, clear, fun.

It's on the Great Pianist Collection CD, from Phillips.
