just the shoulders and head.  they should actually call it a non-bust.  of course, most composers, being male, didn't have a bust anyways. 

preferrably, though - just a plaster of the fingers would do.  take a friend that looks like they have the same looking fingers as chopin.  pose them - plaster them and then write chopin on the front of the hands.  you can find the pics here (scroll down to them)

My guidelines for an ideal present, apart from the obvious ones.

-It has to be something the receiver will like but will not like so much so that the present is something the receiver would buy herself/himself.


-It has to be something that remembers the receiver about you.

Everything else than a bust. At least for me it would be. I hate busts. Some piano teachers use to have Mozart and Beethoven busts above their pianos. They look stony and thrilling down at you poor pathetic dwarf who dares to butcher their work. It's enough for me to see st like this

every day on the music. Scary enough. Also I don't like chocolate gifts. Means I like them but I get too fat. And I drink no alcohol so all the wines that are given to me I pass through to somebody else. But I like children's drawings and pictures. And good art prints. Like Jawlensky or Van Gogh. Or maybe your teacher would like to get a ticket or voucher for a concert or opera or theater. Or a good rare cd.

rare cd's are very nice!  then they can listen whenever they want and just chill - which is what most teachers need at the end of the day.
