saving again!
on: September 30, 2006, 09:58:13 PM
tonight i just had this thought (after a slight mix up on oven temperatures). i accidentally pre-heated my oven to 400 degrees and then afterwards realized that the temperature was supposed to be 350. of course, by the time i noticed - the oven was ALREADY preheated. then i though - oh. i should have been doing this years ago. the oven preheats faster and you save time and energy. do you think this is a good idea or do you think for some things it might be too hot and ruin them. it's awfully hard to ruin meatloaf, though.
any more saving ideas. like purposely eliminated three lightbulbs from the bathrooms out of the six.

i wouldn't do the thing with the oven, some foods are very sensitive to heat...
lately your posts/threads have been crap-like, but i think this one is pretty good.

crap-like? you mean my responses to doxy? well, i sort of thought that myself. but, then again it made me feel daring since i can't really move around right now. i wonder if he'll even come back on and read any replies. i mean - he's a pretty good pianist. do you think i should modify them?

well. most people just talk on this forum. doxy has gone out and done something. proving that it is possible to have a career if you don't waste time. i need a lot of handholding. i need someone to point me in the general direction of 'free' everything. afree place to concertize - a free (but good piano) - and a free load of about 3 more years lessons with carl cranmer. i'll figure it out soon. after all, tonight i walked like a mummy across the kitchen floor. i decided to refuse to use the crutches.

Maybe I missed something important here. I don't get on as much as others, and I don't read everything, which would take much longer than the fifteen minutes I told my husband I would spend here. Did you hurt your leg again pianistimo? Sorry if you did.

I'm not sure using the oven to heat the house is a good idea. I do cook stuff and it does heat up the house though. I think the real heater is probably more effecient.
Cook more than one thing in the oven (one after the other) so you don't have to restart and reheat.
Take a shower and save the humidity in the house during the winter.
I think there's only so far you can go with energy saving. After a point you either pay big bucks on something that saves a little bit more energy or you end up spending a lot of time trying to think up ways to save energy -- wasting time that way. Maybe figuring out how to make more money is a better way to go.

In California, we save water, or we are encouraged to do so. I try to watch the way I use water. I don't throw it down the drain, I use it to water plants or the lawn. We are always conscious about conserving water.
