Well, not quite the end of the discussion.

Gary Graffman also has been playing nothing but the left-hand literature for the past 30 years due to a similar problem. In fact, I just saw him last week at Cal. State Fullerton, where he played, among other things, the Reinicke Sonata Op. 179, some ferocious Reger studies, a Corigliano etude, the Blumenfeld, of course, and then topped it all off with a couple of Chopin-Godowsky's. Not too shabby for a guy who's 79 years old. Now, he wasn't absolutely completely 100% note-perfect, but I'd say he was at least 98%, and his musicianship was second to none.
