arabesque screw up
on: October 12, 2006, 07:29:08 AM
am i supposed to use the pedal at any part of the peice: "Deux Arabesque" by claude debussy? also .... for bar 6 -- the one where u go lower in pitch with the treble and a lowering and highering patterning pitch for bass, is it just me, or does anyone else find it hard to make it sound right without going fast. When i go at a slow pace i realize that my left hand plays some quarter notes off-beat.... it does that so that i could play the right-hand part properly. ...
I use the HOt - cup - of - tea method when dealing with the 3 on 2. If i already understand it how would i practice to make it perfect?
p.s. i gots no teacher for this one ...

Yeh, you can pedal, but DONT pedal across each beat. i.e. you can pedal the triplets but release pedal on 4th note. it sounds ok if the triplets are sort of slurred.
uhm in bar 6 i would just remember to make sure you play the left hand chord (G-D-B) at the same time as the FIRST right hand one, rather than later. its confusing, the melody is unusual because the triplets sound like ornaments, like acciaccaturas that come before the beat.. sometimes it sounds like the L.H chords need to be played on the 4th note.. but they shouldnt
a good recording is one by Klara Kormenski (im fairly sure thats not spelt right), but i cant remember her exact last name.
