Messiaen - Regard XVI

Regard des prophètes, des bergers et des Mages

If the "Le baiser.." always (for me) is somewhat a struggle when performing the whole cycle, this piece seems almost like a kind of funny bagatelle, or maybe more correctly, intermezzo. Very vivid, and very original, with obvious pianistic representations of among others the desert oboe and the gong-gongs.

I missed this the first time, but great recording.  Not as intense or speedy as others I've heard, but it's much clearer.  Seems like you used less pedal than others.
Great job.

what are desert oboes and gong-gongs?

btw,  you are very good ozzy.  you seem to have an innate ability to interpret such difficult music!  you have a complex brain.

Sorry... "tam-tam" I think is the proper english name for what I called gong-gong (swenglish you know...).
A desert oboe is, from what I can understand, just a oboe played in the desert, or maybe played by people that live in the desert. What do i know....?  ??? Blame Messiaen!  ;)
