Rondo in a minor K.511
on: November 12, 2006, 09:48:42 PM
In my opinion, the most sorrowful Mozart piece for solo piano (sadder than K.310 and K.457 sonatas).  10 minutes of sheer beauty.  wow.

has anyone learned this?  what the trouble spots of this piece?  It sounds simple but my teacher says it is a very mature work that not many could pull off.

Anyone else like this piece?

This Rondo and the Gigue in g major two of Mozart's greatest works.  Keeping purity of tone and absolute clarity are truly difficult to achieve.  Don't rush it.

Dunno really, I would toss up between the bmin adagio and the amin sonata - but maybe this as well.
Never look at the trombones. You'll only encourage them.

I don't understand how you would rate the bminor adagio as "difficult".  ???

In that case, you wouldn't understand why Mozart is difficult in the first place :o

Which is harder, fast glittery Mozart (like a fast movement from a Sonata ) or slow introspective Mozart like the Adagio K540 or Rondo K511?  Is the Adagio harder or the Rondo?

Technically, the rondo is harder, but just maybe the adagio is trickier to "interpret" well. Don't forget the gigue which is a harmonic joy.
