Sibelius (the program, not the composer)
on: November 13, 2006, 05:46:44 PM
Has anyone used the computer program sibelius?

Im using it to put all my 4 part harmonized chorales onto the computer, so i can make a little collection of them for reference. Ive only done about 7 of them so far.

when you create your score, it gives you an entire page worth of bars/measures. 1 chorale takes about 8-12 bars, and so i want to delete the rest of them. does anyone know how?

sometimes that program is a bit awkward to use.

my school has it, i think its quite expensive and is quite an advance program or something.

probably colleges and schools may have it in their music departments, but i dont know where they would get it from.

I have sibelius 3 - its very good.

Start a new score and select from the list - instead of orchestral, either start a blank one and add instruments or open a choral manuscript.

All the Best

Sibelius is cool.. at uni one of our units was to learn how to use sibelius. I think its a great program with a good professional output. Anyways, to delete unwanted bars, hold down control, and click the bar(s) you want to delete, make sure a double line purple box is surrounding it, then click delete! easy!

You have different possibilities:

go to EDIT and select SELECT ALL; go to LAYOUT and select HIDE EMPTY STAVES

or simply

press CTRL; make a left mouse click on the stave you want to delete (a blue double frame around the stave will appaere); press DELETE

as simple as this .....

it works with my Sib 2.1 version

Women and the Chopin Competition: Breaking Barriers in Classical Music

The piano, a sleek monument of polished wood and ivory keys, holds a curious, often paradoxical, position in music history, especially for women. While offering a crucial outlet for female expression in societies where opportunities were often limited, it also became a stage for complex gender dynamics, sometimes subtle, sometimes stark. From drawing-room whispers in the 19th century to the thunderous applause of today’s concert halls, the story of women and the piano is a narrative woven with threads of remarkable progress and stubbornly persistent challenges.
