Fast dim 7th arpeggi
on: January 30, 2004, 07:49:27 PM
Doing preludio (etude I) of trancendal etudes for fun (harmless to experiment with challenging stuff).

How do you do the fast 4 octave dim 7th arpeggi on the first page at the speed that they're meant to be played?

Al  replies would be greatly apprieciated

By "Trancendal etudes" I mean the Liszt ones.

yes i can
and the secret is
1.) don't twist the position of your arm let the finger do the work
2.) play the D 7th with all notes together and remember the finger position
3.) remember, when you play ascending, it's 'thumb-over' , when you play descending, it's thumb-under.

thanks...the thing is though, I've been doing this,  but on some recordings I hear them played faster than my glissandos!!
