it's only noticeable slightly if i put my hand flat on a table.  otherwise, my fingers appear straight.  my hand seems to have a good muscle for pinky, three middle fingers, and thumb.  they are kind of independently operating and yet interdependent.  i also have another anomoly which is that my pinky ends about 1/2 cm under the second joint of my ring finger.  i used to think that this meant i had to play with very curved fingers.  but, i've since been compensating by more in and out movements (lateral) at times to reach notes with flatter fingers.  i've found that for me, by far, the flat fingered approach the best to tone production.

Nope; actually it lies flat waaaay out away from my 4th finger. Pretty random.

My 3rd finger on both hands actually lean towards my 4th finger, though. Really annoying.

Somebody explain this to me.

Curving towards the 4th finger? Like, in general or while playing? Does it point towards the 4th finger or do the bones actually CURVE like an arc?

This makes no sense to me.  :-[

I have a huge stretch between my 4th and 5th finger. I can stretch 5ths quite easily with it, and I have smallish hands. It tends to stay slightly curved most of the time, but sometimes goes straight, depending on hand position.

This poll is flawed.

For what these anatomical facts are worth, all my fingers are very straight and all much closer to the same length than most people's seem to be. Never having known differently, I cannot say whether this makes playing easier or harder.

YES!

My pinkies curve inward quite a bit actually. They look like they've been broken in a rather nasty way, lol.

I think that it is genetic and completely normal.

i think there's a confusion between the fingers of people whose 5th naturally is inclined towards the 4th, and those who can curve the 5th when they play, which is an element of technique. I find that my finger bends towards the 5th only when I try to play with curled fingers, otherwise it's straight in flat finger position.
