How to Work on Musicality
on: January 30, 2004, 11:46:22 PM
I would like to know how all you guys try to improve the piece's muscality.....
Is it important to follow exactly how the music is written....meaning for example playing mf and moderate loud and p for soft....or going about your own way to see what you think makes the piece sounds best.
Thanks

You should let the piece flow. Don't get too caught up in thinking "Oh, now I have to play loudly." If you let the piece just flow naturally, the dynamics will probably fall into place. Listen to recordings as well.

I would play how you think it sound best. You will probably play it a lot better if you some of the dynamics and accents and things ur way. If your performing the piece for an audition, than I would play it exactly as written. But if you are playing for fun, or for a performance, it's important to use your creativity and style to make the peice work for you. Nobody plays any song the exaclty same.
