Andsnes is so good! I just recently discovered him (through his Debussy recs), awesome.
[lau] 10:01 pm: like in 10/4 i think those little slurs everywhere are pointless for the music, but I understand if it was for improving technique

yes he is good, one of my favourite young pianists. Though some things he said were wrong. There was another documentary that chronicled his carnegie hall debut and this festival he runs, but I didn't record it as the guide had it listed as Leif Ove Andsnes and I assumed it was the same one.

Yeah I think the Hofman coments are wrong.

Still a superb pianist :)

So hofman could play the rach3?

I don't think so, but if I remember correctly Andsnes said that Hofman didn't play the piece because he felt it was to hard. For all we know he didn't like the piece.

I have no doubt Hofmann could have played Rach 3.  I felt that suggesting Hofmann didn't because he couldn't was one of the more surprisingly silly and immodest things that Andsnes said in the entire documentary, which is a shame, because his interesting interpretation of the piece speaks for itself!
