Mozart trills problem
on: November 28, 2006, 01:43:19 PM
Hi,
I am kinnda having some problems in the 3rd movement of Mozart's K.330 sonata in the part with the trills shown in the image below.

I'll talk about the first trill only and this can be generalized to all. When I play it with fingering 343212 (ending on F#), I don't get it right and it always come out cluttered and not smooth like what is expected from a Mozart trill. So, I found another solution. I deicded not to play the D# (G# and B in the 2 other trills) and it was great. Trills were so easy and light.

So, I am asking should I play the D# or I can get along without it ??

i think it's a perfectly fine option because the left hand is 16th notes - so we're talking a really light group of notes there.  and, if the triplet idea sounds good to you - then it's probably not as important to do the remaining notes as it might be in a slower movement.  allegretto is still fast enough to keep the thing moving and not have people saying - where did those notes go.  most people listening won't even ask, imo.
