Monthly magazine recommendations
on: February 02, 2004, 10:04:13 AM
Hi Guys,
I've been playing Electric Bass for about 8 years and I started taking Piano lessons last month. I hope to aim for Rockschool Grade 2 exam in June.
Since I started taking Music Theory seriously on the bass last year I have found BassPlayer magazine an enormous help. It's largely aimed at theory heads (it's a bit nerdy) and I was wondering what Piano magazines would you recommend that are pitched at Piano enthusiasts.
I'm not particularly interested in Keyboards/Synths; I would prefer a magazine with a Piano bias and playing techniques.
All the best,
Rob.

Try this one:
Pianist Magazine
www.pianistmagazine.com
It is aimed at amateurs and piano students. Has a sizeable section on learning strategies plus many scores divided in three levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced). Comes with a CD with all pieces in the magazine. Mostly classical though (although there is a section on jazz and a couple of scores of popular music).
Best wishes,
Bernhard.

The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side. (Hunter Thompson)
