The highlight for me is when all my relatives bugger off and leave me in peace.

The highlight of Christmas will be pianistimo's defense of her archeological evidence that David and Jonathan were found entombed wearing sundresses and polyester hair extensions!

Where is that written, Our Lady of the Illogical!  Where is that inscribed, Our Postulate of Perpetual Nattering??  Where??

Adieu . . . for now.
Current repertoire:  "Come to Jesus" (in whole-notes)

under a gallon?  what happened?  you lost a girlfriend.  or worse?  whatever the case - if you care to share - we can commiserate.  if you are spending the holiday alone - don't feel terrible.  remember people who are lonely like you.  go to a rest home and bring a bunch of candy canes and a stack of piano music.

Christmas? well, there's lots of things that i like..  ;D  i like the carolling on christmas eve(we go around singing carols in different houses until the stroke of midnight!!) i just love carolling... Then, there is the Christmas service in church on Christmas day!! it's so nice to wish everyone merry christmas and sing hymns.. :) for me, christmas is not so much of the presents but the coming of Christ into this world long long ago.. and it would be wonderful if all my relatives came back to gather together to celebrate christmas! ;D

so sorry to hear of the loss of your girlfriend's dad.  that's rough.  so sorry!  sounds like you'll have to be strong for her mom.  sort of 'fill in' and fix stuff up when it falls apart.

Mon Dieu! (can I even write that without having it taken apart here?!) - the sheer speed at which Thal and Pianistimo exchange here is coming to rival Marc-André Hamelin playing Alkan's Op. 76 No. 3!

I don't know what's nerdier, the fact that someone used Alkan in an online discussion, or the fact that I understood it.  Only at PianoForum. ;)

“The Sound Always Comes First” — Andrea Bonatta on Teaching Liszt

Why tone matters more than speed, why reading Goethe matters as much as practising octaves, and how a single insight can transform a performance. Italian pianist and scholar Andrea Bonatta has spent decades exploring the contradictions of Franz Liszt, from performer to man of faith, virtuoso to poet. Here, in conversation with Piano Street at Liszt Utrecht 2026, he shares his vision. Read more
