Yes - and this was very much a part of the problem. It seems to be OK for now, but I had many difficulties earlier today in accessing the site, its thread categories and individual threads, as well as similar problems in trying to send responses to various things and sending this message. Was there a problem earlier today?

Alistair

Perhaps you should try cleaning out your browser's history and your temporary internet files. I know years of downloading hax, crackz, w4rez, pr0n, (especially pr0n...) can wreak havoc on your system.

Earlier today we had to do some maintenance work on the server which took up a considerable part of the server's processing power for a few hours. During this period of time page loading and posting etc. were sometimes very slow.

We are about to do some upgrades of the website backend and also move to a new more powerful server. The preparation of this will sometimes need very heavy processing work to be done wich may cause similar problems the coming week(s).

Not my system. Thanks for the advice, nevertheless, but we do clean that out regularly in any case. It is now clear from Nils's subsequent post that there is another explanation, so the mystery is solved, as is the access problem.
