after one and a half year, i still wasn't able to play fur elise. and i was ok with that. why star shooting?

if its the ego, which most probably is, than you must learn to decrease its size, or else you'll get depressed.

the funny thing is he claims he started playing the piano at 10

I performed mazeppa a year ago but I do not have any recordings nor on my past repertoire nor on the one I just began at school. If I get to the national finals my performance of the Rachmaninoff first piano concerto will suposedly be recorded. I'm currently learning that, the variations serieuses, some etudes by Chopin, Bach toccata in E minor and Scriabin etude op.42 no.5 for this session(half-year). If I can get my end-session recital recorded I will post. Now I don't want to start any debates on my abilities or w/e as I do not have proof of what I can do actually nor does any of you have proofs that I can't.

...it's just that to record something like Mazeppa at a reasonable standard [and it seems that judging by yours and others' comments, you are supposedly able to do it] is a "costly-to-fake" job. If you come up with it, then everybody will at least know you can do it...unless of course...

well, he could always do it the Hatto way. 8)

Therefore, if you can play it already, recording it should be very easy for you. Economically next to no cost. You can borrow a video camera from a friend if you don't have one, for example. Plus you get the added benefit of hearing yourself play - one of the best teachers you can ever have.

You see, logically speaking, given you haven't posted it despite the fact it's easy to do once you can play it, the only logical conclusion to draw is you can't do it...costly to fake, remember ;)

As I said I performed it one year ago. I did not touch it since then. I can not play it up to performance standard anymore. It's in my plans to rework on it later in my studies, but I moved to other things for now. Think whatever you want, but I must not be that bad to have been accepted at the Orford center of the arts to study with Jimmy Brière. There are auditions to go there. And If I'm getting into the national competition this year, it's because I'm ready to play at that standard. No, I really do not have any means of record. The only thing I have is a sound-less cheap video a friend took with his digital camera ... 3 clips of 30 seconds ... that has absolutely NO value. If I had anything to post I would, when I will have I will. As I said nobody has proofs of nothing so it's pointless to argue. And I admit it would be even more pointless to fake or to get a fake rep on the internet under a nickname  ::)

lol, i imagine if you went to the effort of learning one of the most immpressive pieces of liszt music, you would not immediately jib it off after performing it once, particularly if you performed it at a level of perfection. i remember trying to learn mazeppa, heh, kept me entertained for months.

Thierry as far as I know your repertoire is like... 5 pieces.  And Mazeppa is the only impressive one.  You would not just stop playing it.

...you see Thierry? Everyone can see your reasonings for what they are.

This thread now needs no reply from you, unless it contains your Mazeppa playing - or even any of those new works that you're apparently working on.

Why cant you post what your supposedly working on now? Rach 1 is a much more impressive achievement than Mazeppa.
