Thanks Pianowolfi,
This is really a nice forum and am glad I found it. When I was younger I studied at North Texas State University (Jazz Education). After that I played professionally for 20 years in hotel lobbies, bars, restaurants, weddings, etc. Sometimes I actually think about writing a book about all the crazy encounters I had with customers and even other musicians over those years. There was a time period that I actually stopped working and practicing. About 6 years ago I started practicing again. Now, I am part of the IT staff at Northern Illinois Unviersity so thankfully I don't have to play gigs anymore. But, I still have things to say musically and there are very few venues to play in. At least where I am and I am close to Chicago. I see you are from Switzerland. I've always heard that people in Europe appreciate Jazz more than people do here. Do you think that is true? Are there places for Jazz pianists to perform in Switzerland where the piano is actually in tune and not a dog?
Well, thanks a lot for your welcome and support. I look forward to posting some tunes. Some I wrote, others are Jazz Standards. I have always been very influenced by Bill Evans. If you are familiar with him I think you would agree that he is the Ravel, Debussey, Chopin of Jazz. It will be so nice to be able to post some of my own interpretations here.
Thanks again,
Dan Pincus
