Rediscovered works by Rachmaninoff
on: February 18, 2004, 02:03:10 AM
hello I am working on a new documentary about Sergei Rachmaninoff and his relationship with his grand daughter Sophie Wolkonsky, which became Sophie Wolkonsky Wanamaker in 1952 I understand.
Has anyone here heard of the "rediscovered" short songs Rachmaninoff wrote for Sophie? They were called "Sophie's Songs" and he started writing them in 1933 around the time Sophie was 8 years old.
We have proof of their existance now, found the original recordings of some of these songs (there were 8 total songs written), and now even have located the original manuscript, but we are still searching for more inofrmation about the two of them working on these towards the end of Sergei's life.

I have been composing music, usually classical in nature, since I was about 10. I recently had my 1st symphony "LA Guerre" performed and recorded in April of 2000. I have several other compositions.&
