Please help finding two new pieces
on: February 12, 2007, 11:13:00 AM
Hello!

I need to find two new pieces. First one will be played on occasion of the baptism of my nephew. I have about two months left to work on this one, so maybe it should be 2-5 mins. No further restrictions except that it should be no atonal piece.

Second one i want to play when my girl-friend returns from her 1 month journey.  So only 4 Weeks left. I thought of a cheerful piece about 3 mins. Better no baroque. She also dislikes most of Beethoven (very sad for me) so i won't play the 3rd mvt. of Les adieux. Maybe a romantic piece, she likes my Chopin 9.1 and 20 ph and Brahms 79.2 but is not very fond of my Rach preludes  :-[. Again it should be no atonal piece.

Thanks in advance

Daniel

Hmmm...

For the baptism, I would play a transcription of "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" by Bach... there are several versions in the sheet music request child board.  Maybe a *gasp* cut from Shubert's impromptu in G flat...

For the second, anything from Debussy's Golliwog Cakewalk to Brahms op. 118 no 2.  My GFs have always loved Joplin's Solace, but that may just be the way I play it...   ;D

Good Luck!

I'm an optimist... but I don't think it's helping...

Thanks R&B. I will have a look into all of these you mentioned, especially the Joplin.
