Reduce Pedal "Thud" in Recordings
on: February 15, 2007, 06:36:51 PM
Any suggestions to reduce the mechanical "thud" of the pedal when making recordings?

pedal less high. stay around mid-pedal and don't lift foot all the way off. only enough to clear the sound.

Could also adjust your pedal so there is some "play" between the fully up position and when the dampers begin lifting.
Some people like it tight so just a touch to the pedal starts the dampers lifting. I like a bit of headroom because pedal thuds annoy me and also because I find 1/x pedaling easier that way.

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach
