radiohead and christopher o'riley
on: February 23, 2007, 06:04:33 AM
Did anybody hear O'Riley's transcriptions of Radiohead's music?
I would like to find the sheet music of his transcriptions. Any help?!

I have it.

Not exactly worth the 80 dollars it ends up coming out to be...

Yea the transcriptions are, I guess, decent, but 60 dollars is asking way too much.
generally working on:
Bach Toccata in g minor
Rachmaninoff 3rd Concerto

Thanks so much... Yes, that is kind of expensive.  I might try to figure out something on my own! (It will take me some time!)

My griefs:

1. IMO, only a few of the transcriptions (Karma Police, Paranoid Android, Talk Show Host, 2+2=5, There there, Black Star) are all that great IMO
2. The score does not always reflect exactly what he plays in his recordings.
3. The computer typeset score is awfully messy in some cases and is hard to read.
4. He employs huge intervals sometimes, 10th run in Karma Police
5. The book itself is more of an artsy item, rather impractical to use.
6. The price = ridiculous.

ive been barking up that tree for a long time, to no avail. he claims that the scores are too large and weirdly shaped for a scanner.

The pages are large squares, the only way to capture them properly is with a camera or a giant scanner.

Here's a sample page though (from 2+2=5)

I see now that da Tony is most likely done with college apps, he has more time to spend online, true.

2+2=5 and Paranoid Android are possibly the hardest ones.

Anyone know of any copyright/royalty protocols in cases like this, i.e., solo piano arrangements of popular songs? would it make a difference if the arrangements are only performed, not published or recorded?
