heavy rain and piano
on: March 07, 2007, 04:31:29 AM
there were water leaks everywhere in my house due to weeks of hard rain. the piano soundboard got the drips to *DAMMM*N*. i'd say about a foot square of the upper soundboard held water. so i used toilet tissue to suck the water. but i think that part is still very moist. but, well with this rainny tropical weather, everything is hmm.....moist.

what should i do?

Bad things always happen to nice people.

I have an idea cover your house with a large plastic cover so that when it rains water wont get into your house. Its very simple find a large plastic cover and basically cover your roof.
Obviously it is also a good idea to fix the problem but that can take time and money.

yes, zheer, then i got myself a floor paper ( plastic carpet thing )- to make sure its thick enough to hold any water. and i ripped the paper by accident. there is now a hole on the paper but its near the extremities so its ok-usable. cheapo product

anyway, what should i do with the soundboard now?

A dehumidifier might help in general if there's that much damp about.

The management offices at the theatre I work in were just recently moved - they used to be on the floor below the dressing rooms and the shower tray directly above leaked so whoever got that desk used to spend every show day working under a golf umbrella. We all cheered when the office moved upstairs... and now it's under the roof and the roof leaks so every time it rains you have to work under a golf brolly. Such is progress... we've lost three computers to water damage since the summer, it's getting a bit silly!
