Picture removal
on: March 12, 2007, 09:55:40 PM
Thank you for removing the wholly unnecessary picture from the "Anything but Piano" section; might you now also remove the responses thereto, lest they otherwise seem to make little or no sense now that you HAVE removed that picture? I don't want to suggest censoring anyone else's posts, but I'd be happy for you to remove my replies to that picture now that it has itself gone. What do other respondents think?

Best,

This was discussed here a week ago: https://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php/topic,23608.msg265020.html#msg265020

It may appear as a good idea to just censor inappropriate posts instead of completely removing them but, considering that most inappropriate posts are followed by replies  commenting on the inappropriateness of the inappropriate post, it usually becomes very confusing.
I am still not sure which way would be the less confusing so further comments are welcome.

why don't you just replace the deleted material with a note saying:

Alistars question here points out the problem with such a way to remove posts. The example we were discussing is to be found at:
https://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php/topic,23772.msg267002.html#msg267002

How should the posts which were commenting on the picture before it was removed be handled? It is very confusing to have them there since they are out of context and most posters would, as Alistar, want their commenting posts completely removed in such cases.

Oh I think you should leave the subsequent posts . They often make for interesting reading  ;D (unless, I suppose, they quote or reproduce the original offending material).

Greetings.

Why is it that I always miss these pictures? Everytime there is talk about such material being posted I always end up with a sordid "awww." Nils, you should create a room for all of the banned threads and pictures and allow a number of members access to it annually.

AHAHAHAHAHA I sorely hope you are joking, DS, or else that you realize your efforts are fruitless.

In any case, you did not miss much.

I don't care what he does but I'd greatly appriciate if Nils would tell us why when he deleats a post.

Actually not too long ago I treated this forum with my complaints about a similar matter. If you should search this room you should find a thread by me in which Nils explained the reason for banning certain threads.

Actually I wasn't joking, but do acknowledge that my attempt at the truth (man is this starting to sound like government conspiracies...) is rather vain.

That's because it IS a government conspiracy, notably because Nils is the sole administrator of the forum, and thus needs to conspire with only himself.

You don't know half the things that go on in here. We are not alone man....They are out there man...Why do you think Nils censores so many threads? That is because they are apt at releasing the truth. And those members banned... well they were the ones that got in on Nil's plans and threatened on releasing that knowledge.

He usually deletes posts with bad spelling.
