Notes/Analysis of Pieces
on: February 28, 2004, 06:51:52 AM
Does anyone know some good websites that analyze the time period, composer, and the piece itself?

Yes, there are several (probalby several thousands), but all the ones I came accross are very specific to either a composer or a single piece. To my knowlegdge there isn't one that treats all pieces of all composers.

If you are more specific I may have something.

I am also  intersted in any web sites exploring chopins works, primarily his preludes. Sites with explanations and help with ornamantations would be nice... if that's possible? Thanks Bernhard!!!

Not a website, but a book:

Eleanor Bailie – Chopin: A graded Practical guide (Kahn and Averill) has everything you could wish for.

Also Cortot’s “work edition” (“edition de travail”) of the preludes has some valuable information on how to deal technically with each prelude.

Best wishes,
Bernhard
